Final Composition Study
This final study is a culmination of individual choreographic voices collaborating together to create a piece that represents what we have discovered and used as tools throughout the semester. The title that came forward was Synchrony. We created this as a way to have senses of joy, lightness, and a collective variety of textures. Compositional Study 3
Final Music Study Showing: Shrug It Off The third study I explored was a Music Study, and the title of my completed version was Shrug It Off. From a provided playlist I chose a song that would challenge my listening and perception of layering when the compositional creation process began. The first step to this study was to map out the song; writing/drawing out the layers being heard from tempos, meters, changes in instrumentals, shifts in melodies, etc. working in ABA form.

Compositional Study 2
In this second study of Deconstruction, my partner and I presented the dance system of Lyrical with the assumptions, contradictions, and power structures that make it what it is. What we could identify as the ‘rules’ of this system is that it is required to move to the music and lyrics being used, detailed in tempos and syncopations, floorwork, facials, costuming (which is normally flowy), heavy on performative dance aspects, and the music is the thing the speaks/emphasizes t

In this first study, I presented something that I didn’t know until the end, which was going to evoke joy in myself and for others, even when it took time to get to that point.
